It is not often as a writer that you ever get to engage the more "cartographical" parts of your brain, but when you're writing fantasy it's actually a given that the world you build exists geographically as much as culturally or personally. Hence I engaged the artist Nalja Kay to bring to life the isolated realm of Torinokosareta Basyo (aka 'The Lands Left Behind'), and she did a killer job based off my shitty first sketch (which you can also see below). You can find the full colour version of this map on the inside front cover of the novel The Wyvern and the Wolf.
